Pet Food & Product Recalls
Your pet’s safety is our top priority. Recalls can happen for pet food, treats, supplements, and even toys.
To help you stay informed, we recommend checking reliable, up-to-date sources for the latest alerts:
Food & Drug Administration (FDA)
The most authoritative and current list of pet food, drug, and product recalls..
Great Pet Care
A comprehensive, easy-to-read recall summaries for food and treats.
Veterinary Information Network (VIN)
The VIN Drug and Food Recall Center provides links to recall notifications. It’s a helpful long-term archive of food and veterinary product recalls.
American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)
Recall notices curated by veterinary professionals.
We encourage pet parents to check these sites regularly, especially if you feed new brands, rotate diets, or use supplements frequently.
If you ever have questions or concerns, MoVET is here to help guide you through next steps, support your pet’s health, and interpret confusing recall information.
What to Do If You Suspect a Problem?
If you notice something “off” with your pet’s food—or if your pet becomes sick and you think food may be involved—follow these steps:
1. Stop feeding the food immediately.
Switch to another diet you know is safe (or reach out to us for guidance).
2. Do NOT throw the food or packaging away.
The company and the FDA often need specific information to investigate concerns.
Gather the following details from the packaging:
Product name and full description
Type of container (bag, can, tub, etc.)
Storage requirements (refrigerated, frozen, shelf-stable)
Lot number (stamped near the “Best By” or expiration date)
Best By/expiration date
UPC/barcode
Net weight
Date and place of purchase
How the food was stored, prepared, and handled
The issue you observed (odor, mold, illness in your pet, etc.)
If your pet is showing symptoms, you may also be asked for details such as species, breed, health status, test results, and clinical signs.
3. Submit a report.
The FDA has an easy-to-use portal for reporting pet food complaints. CLICK HERE to submit a report.
You can also contact the pet food manufacturer directly—many will request similar information and may launch their own investigation.
